The Dubai landmark is being illuminated to match the teams' colours
Dubai is well and truly getting into the spirit of the FIFA World Cup, and even the Burj Khalifa has been kitted out to take part in the action.
The tallest building in the world has been lighting up with the colours of the winning teams during the tournament, and England fans were delighted to see the landmark illuminated in red, white and blue after their 6-1 defeat of Panama on Monday night.
The Burj Khalifa first dazzled us with its lights during the New Year celebrations this year and since then we have been treated to displays to mark the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, and it seems that the folks at property giant Emaar are also big football fans.
But they aren’t the only ones. This FIFA World Cup we’ve had footy fan zones aplenty, our very own Paul the octopus and cinemas getting in on the sporting action.
And now you can even fork out Dhs100,000 to watch the FIFA World Cup final from the Imperial Suite at Fairmont Dubai.
The hotel has put together what it claims is the most expensive overnight stay package for the final on Sunday July 15.
The luxury trip comes with a one-night stay for six at the 548 sq m Imperial Suite, which will be transformed into a football pitch complete with artificial grass, as well as a butler, a barman and a personal chef. Not too shabby then.
If that’s a bit over your budget, then let’s just hope the city glows in your colours.
